National Apple Day - Extra Special Menu
Apple Day is a weekend celebration of apples and orchards, held in October. It is celebrated mainly in the United Kingdom. It traditionally falls on 21 October, the date of the first such event in 1990.
Here at The Apple Store we have the following extra special menu options for you to choose from over the weekend:
> Grilled Mackerel Fillet, new potatoes, apple celeriac and chive salad.
> Pork Loin Steak, black pudding, stuffed apple, mustard mash, beer braised carrots sage and gravy.
> Brie, Apple and red onion tart.
> Roast Butternut Squash, feta and apple salad, sage dressing and toasted pumpkin seeds.
> Parsnip and Apple Soup.
> Pork and Apple Burger.
Apple Day is intended to be both a celebration and a demonstration of the variety we are in danger of losing, not simply in apples, but in the richness and diversity of landscape, ecology and culture too. It has also played a part in raising awareness in the provenance and traceability of food.
